This portrait of Helmut Newton was taken in 1995 in Monaco during a TV Special on Helmut Newton with Télé Monte-Carlo at Galerie Pierre Nouvion. Shabelewska was able to capture a rare image of Helmut Newton, the master of fashion photography, posing playfully in front of his famous BIG NUDE work. The size difference between the artist and the photograph exposes the grandiose and fabulous side of Newton’s photos, while at the same time revealing a human and accessible side to this iconic figure. A tribute to a man who ennobled fashion photography, Shabelewska’s work immortalizes Newton, who passed away in 2004 in Los Angeles.
